And if Mother Teresa resurrected in you?

Actually, who is Mother Teresa and what if we integrated some of her attributes in us? I guess some of us know her already. But for a start, I wish we refresh our mind-set on who actually she is.

Born on the 26 day of August 1910 and died on the 5th September 1997, Mother Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu is a Roman Catholic nun and Albanian by origin. Although she had an enjoyable and solid career profile as headmistress and lived a wealthy life, Teresa was increasingly disturbed by the poverty surrounding her in Calcutta, where she lived. Especially, amidst the Bengal Famine of 1943 that brought misery, hunger and death in her community. She experienced what she later termed as ‘a call within a call’ and integrated the missionary work to allege the living condition of the poor in 1948, abandoning her comfortable teaching profession. She adopted Indian citizenship, spent years in Patna to receive basic medical training at Holy Family Hospital and ventured into the slums. She founded a school in Motijhil, Kolkata; before she began tending to the poor and hungry. Later in 1949, Teresa is joined in her efforts by a group of young women, and the group become the foundation for new religious community helping the “poorest among the poor.” Thanks to consistency, her endeavours quickly caught the attention of Indian officials, including the Prime Minister.

We are relieved and stronger when we assist others

She wrote in her diary that her first year was fraught with difficulty. With no income, she begged for food and supplied and experienced doubt, loneliness and the temptation to return to the comfort of convent life, yet she prayed and forged ahead the dark spots. Before she knew it, the Vatican granted her permission to open the diocesan congregation, which would become the missionary of charity. In her words, it would care for “the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled, blind and the lepers, all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society and are shunned by everyone.” She is no more today, but her monument represents the symbol of charity in the World.

Look at someone who dedicated her life for the sake of charity or better still for others. The well-being of Human was at the core of her existence, can mother Teresa actually resurrects in us today? I still repeat my question?

You reading this article can be mother Teresa. Actually, do you know becoming mother Teresa simply implies to have a concern for other’s well-being? How often do you think about others in your life, goals, daily planning or during prayers, when you eat, drink, work or face the ordeals of life? It counts. Many suffer and yell around us while we have part or the solution to their problems, yet what we grant to them is silence. We must learn how to open our hearts to charity, love, brotherhood and spiritual oneness above borders, it makes life worth living. Did you know the most selfish thing you can do in this life is to pull someone up? Yes, for the gratitude that you receive is tripled the assistance you provide, the self-satisfaction and overwhelming joy that invades your heart is priceless. You are paid in the best currency, nothing can replace it.

Mindful of this, I wish we look and try to identify those suffering in our midst and alleviate their pains.  If you think the world will be a better place if everyone exercises this, kindly drop a comment.
