And if we discuss about sustainable development goals this week!

This week, I propose we share tips to fight for sustainability in our daily routine. Let’s start with a memory exercise, that is, by recalling fully what we know of sustainable development. It is an approach to developing or growing by using resources in a way that allows for them to renew or continue to exist for others, or simply eating today with a mind full of the existence of a tomorrow. Whenever I think of this definition, I just guess what would become of my community if everyone advocated for the accomplishment of the seventeen (17) goals encapsulated in this vision (Sustainable Development).

Sustainable development goals (SDG) should be a reflex in our daily life, for if there are not attained by 2030, nobody shall be set aside when the consequences will prevail. So, when planning our day early in the morning, let’s ponder upon that. In other words, we need to turn our lifestyle into impacting tools for others, that is, exercise influence in the environment we live, so much that others acknowledge the relevance of the SDGs and respect them. I guess you know people often learn or copy easily from what they see others do, that is other’s ways of life or being. Meaning we can impact the life of the people around us even unconsciously. Now, the question I ask is how do we go about our daily lives? Can it susceptibly impact positively the people around us? Do we exercise what we preach or teach? These are some of the salient questions we should ask ourselves.

Many carry the concept of sustainable development throughout the week in projects and papers, but as soon as they leave the office, it is no longer their issue. They are the first to dump plastics and refuse on streets. Or better still, we see them piping to see if someone is around to either answer to their nature calling on the roadside or in the nearest isolated corner. Have you given a thought to what will become of that area in the next two days? Sustainable development!!!!

Oh!! How could I forget our belly-centered politicians who eat and forget tomorrow? We generally threat this specie of beings in our common language as “Chop broke pot”, they limit their thinking on “now” and careless about the future. For instance, we will see a minister or government official that embezzles Billions for his stomach alone, meanwhile in his community inhabited by over twenty five (25) million of people, there is no potable water, health center, food, school, road or electricity (look at the number of SDG endangered by a flaw of an individual and the number of people that suffer). At times, I ask myself how an individual comes up with such a selfish heart. But, I now understand that is not an emanation of a single day, it takes time. Those who lie today or collect small bribes to offer free public services generally accumulate experience in this dark business and before they know it, there have escalated to billions. Who will plan for the next generation in such a context? Sustainable development!!

Should we fight for our stomack or for the future of the people who entrusted us with the power bestow upon us? Kindly drop your answer; please!!!
